Description: This polygon dataset, derived from the FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer (source: http://www.floodmaps.fema.gov/NFHL/status.shtml, interactive FEMA web map: http://fema.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=cbe088e7c8704464aa0fc34eb99e7f30), shows the extent of 500 year flood boundaries for locations throughout the state of Nevada, excluding Esmeralda County. This layer shows 500 year flood zones (defined here: http://www.fema.gov/flood-zones). The flood zones in this layer are referred to by FEMA as having a 0.2% annual chance of being equaled or exceeded in a given year, and identified on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) as a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). This is also known as the base flood or 500-year flood as referred to in this layer. These zones are labeled in the NFHL as Zone B and X (shown in orange).
