Description: This polygon dataset, derived from the FEMA National Flood Hazard Layer (source: http://www.floodmaps.fema.gov/NFHL/status.shtml, interactive FEMA web map: http://fema.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=cbe088e7c8704464aa0fc34eb99e7f30), shows the extent of 100 year flood boundaries for locations throughout the state of Nevada, excluding Esmeralda County. This layer combines National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL) data for floodways (defined here: http://www.fema.gov/floodway) and flood zones (defined here: http://www.fema.gov/flood-zones). The flood zones in this layer are referred to by FEMA as having a 1% annual chance of being equaled or exceeded in a given year, and identified on the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) as a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). This is also known as the base flood or 100-year flood as referred to in this layer. These zones are labeled in the NFHL as Zone A, AO, AH, A1-A30, AE, A99, AR, AR/AE, AR/AO, AR/A1-A30, AR/A, V, VE, and V1-V30.
